Another milestone and counting for Scottie

IT'S becoming a habit for Scottie Thompson.

The Barangay Ginebra star achieved another career milestone recently by becoming the latest player to grab 1,000 offensive rebounds during the Kings' 97-78 rout of TNT Tropang 5G in a marquee duel between two PBA Philippine Cup contenders.

The former MVP was finally honored with the award on Sunday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo during halftime of the Barangay Ginebra-Rain or Shine game.

Commissioner Willie Marcial handed the special PBA plaque to Thompson in a simple awarding ceremony together with Rain or Shine Board of Governor Atty. Mamerto Mondragon.

The landmark was actually the fourth for Season 49 for the 31-year-old guard from Davao.

He earlier recorded 500 steals, 2,000 defensive rebounds, and 2,000 assists, making him the first ever player in the 49-year history of the league to register four career achievement award in a single season, according to PBA resident statistician Fidel Mangonon III.

Against Rain or Shine, Thompson had an all-around game of eight points, nine rebounds, five assists, and two steals in a 98-80 win that clinched for the Kings the no. 4 spot and a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs.

Ginebra will meet no. 5 Converge in the quarterfinals. (RG)
